Argyle is on U.S. 77 six miles southwest of Denton in Southwestern Denton County. The community was named Argyle by a railroad surveyor, after a garden in France. Argyle received its own school district in 1884. Incorporated in 1963, Argyle is a community known for its rural setting of wooded, gently rolling land and small-town lifestyle. Argyle's population is now approximately 2,550 and it is 11 square miles in size. Most available lots are at least 1-2.5 acres and suited for custom building. Currently, new subdivisions with homes on smaller lots are under construction or are in the planning stages. Residents enjoy the benefits of quiet,small-town living plus the advantages of proximity to business centers, shopping, entertainment, cultural activities and professional sports. With its central location in Denton County, the third fastest growing county in the United States, Argyle anticipates extremely high growth rates over the next 10 years. Housing in Argyle ranges from modest frame homes on small lots to expansive homes on multi-acreage property. Argyle is in close proximity to both Dallas and Fort Worth.
